Best serum for deep wrinkles
For deep wrinkles, SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is our most effective serum. It pairs pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) with vitamin E and ferulic acid. Skin needs vitamin C to build collagen, the protein that keeps it firm, and as an antioxidant vitamin C neutralizes the free radicals from UV and pollution that break collagen down. Vitamin E and ferulic acid help keep the vitamin C stable and add antioxidant protection of their own. Deep wrinkles respond slowly, so expect smoother, brighter-looking skin to come gradually. Use a few drops each morning on clean, dry skin, then moisturizer and a broad-spectrum sunscreen; the serum adds protection against free radicals but doesn't replace SPF. Store it away from heat and light, and replace it if it turns dark orange or brown, which signals the vitamin C has oxidized.

Why it works
Antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E and plant antioxidants)
Antioxidants such as vitamins C and E help neutralize the damaging molecules that UV light creates in skin. Vitamin C is also needed to build collagen, and dermatologists list it among ingredients that can fade dark spots. Evidence is mixed: a major review found results on wrinkles unconvincing, noted that many trials test blends of ingredients, which makes each one's effect hard to judge, and said vitamin C alone gives little protection against sunburn, so it does not replace sunscreen. Vitamins C and E work better together than alone. Pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is unstable and must be in an acidic formula, below pH 4, to enter skin.
